The Frisian language is the West Germanic language that is most closely related to English. Frisian is spoken in Friesland (Fryslān), the northern Dutch coastal province, including the Frisian islands of Terschelling (Skylge) and Schiermonnikoog (Skiermūntseach). There are estimatd to be over 450,000 speakers of Frisian. Frisian is a member of the family of Germanic languages.
