Maori - Te reo Māori

The Maori language (te reo Māori) is the indigenous language of New Zealand (Aotearoa - The Land of the Long White Cloud). Māori is spoken by over 130,000 people of all ages on a daily basis. It belongs to the Austronesian family of languages and is closely related to Rarotongan (te Reo Rarotonga), Tahitian (te Reo Mā'ohi/Tahiti), Hawaiian ('Ōlelo Hawai'i), Samoan (Gagana Samoa), Tongan (Faka Tonga) and Fijian (Vosa Vakaviti).

Please note: Even though older computers may not show the macron (the straight line over the long vowels) correctly on this webpage, please be assured that the macron will appear correctly in the eBooks on your computer, regardless whether it has unicode support or not (as seen in the images below).
